MrsK17 Today seems to be a hard day for me missing my husband who still has 30 months to go before he sees the parole board for the 4th time. With Christmas approaching I think I’m gonna miss him more. This will be our first Christmas together. We met while he is incarcerated. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get ost the holidays with your spouse being incarcerated?

Tommie Hi MrsK17-- "Welcome" to the group, the best thing I could tell you is this, is to keep yourself busy, to keep your mind occupied and from wandering idly, the separation from our loved ones is hard enough to deal with especially with the holidays and new yrs approaching. There's no right or wrong in dealing with this, but if you don't have one already, I strongly suggest that you find a job and/or attend school to keep your finances intact, also continue to reach out to us on here, and even though my now husband is home to us a yr now, I decided to stay on here to offer my loving support and encouragement I give to others. Five yrs ago, I was lost, I mean completely lost and once Deryck got sentenced in the spring of 2013, I felt like my life was over, so what we decided to do was to stay in touch through emails, letters, phone calls and visits before he was shipped to state prison here in VA, so the visits went from regular to none, bc of transportation which we don't have yet, so with me attending school part-time and raising our kids (all 4 mine bio) and maintaining the household, it made those yrs fly right on by. Deryck was charged for petty crimes here in Roanoke, VA and he left us from July 25, 2012 and was released November 28, 2016 and we married the morning after, so you see it can be done and with the small support group we have we were able to stay strong and positive

Tommie And even though ppl in or outside may not be in favor of your love and support you give him, it's still your life to live, only you can decide if this life is for, it's not for everyone, everyone isn't cut from the same cloth, so hold on to your dreams and if ever feel the need to talk, vent we're here for you okay. Hope this helps some @Mrs.K17-- Love always, Tommie~~~.

MrsK17 It was nice talking to my husband today. It seems really long when he doesn’t call. I can’t wait for tomorrow morning.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have to agree with you, just because a person is in prison doesn’t mean they are bad people.
