About

My fiance is servicing a life term sentence without any possibility of parole or probation under the 3 strike crack cocaine drug laws. No guns, No Bodies, No Robbery, NO VIOLENT CRIMES AT ALL!!! He entered the justice system in 1992 at the age of 22 he is now 45 years old. He has served 22 years and again, has no opportunity for release. Our only child, our son, was born 2 months later. Our son is now 22 years old himself. My fiance and I recently got engaged this year after 22 years on March 14, 2014. We have asked the warden to approve our marriage request. If granted, we want to marry on the next opportunity in two months in October 2014.

I have submitted a request for clemency to President Obama in April of this year. Again, my fiance has no violent charges or crimes, no gun charges, no murder charges, only drug convictions which he admitted to under a coerce plea bargain. After my fiance's incompetent (as English is his second language) self incrimination, the prosecution decided to rescind the agreement to accept the plea and therefore, rescinded the plea agreement.

The sentence was Life Imprisonment WITHOUT the possibility of Parole or Probation.

I hope this group can provide me with support to cope with such cruel and unusual punishment that this has caused our entire family.

My Favorite Song ... I did the bid. My prayers are with you and yours. In closed is Letter of my trailer visit after I was married. Its a part of the book. Something to read as you get ready for your next visit. Its in your message box.

Please be on the look out for my book that is out on Kindle and hardcopy.

Enclosed: "An Except of the Book" -- The Prisoner Wife's Husband

    PREFACE
This book is about my life - my beginnings and my endings, my comings and goings - about this country, and this state’s ill-legal system, and the life of others facing similar obstacles, whether inside prison or outside. On a micro-level, this book will show in explicit detail how the U.S. criminal justice system is performing genocide on a mass incarceration scale. The book Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander was an objective, external research on prisons and blacks. This book is the internal, personal, subjective life story of a black man experiencing Jim Crow in real time 2014. Everyone that reads this narrative is connected to this story, for we are all connected to this United State’s system. I pray and work everyday to overcome this New Jim Crow system through education and information that we might face the system more effectively as our forefathers and foremothers did.
In this book, you will experience historical eras of 1960's to present as I tell my account in this narrative; the string of events which result in my story. I hope the dots are connected in this book - a book alive with facts.
I ask that you read and view the book's multiple perspectives with an all-inclusive perspective. This person (Ice a/k/a Khaliq) could be you, your brother, your man or your friend. You could be the mother of a son just locked up, or the father of a son, or the son himself. I hope that you get all that the book intends to offer. It is a work of love, submitted first to the dedicated women, then to all others who can see something of themselves in this story.
    LETTER ON THE BAR

    A conversation, a word
    an unexpected letter
I ponder their relevance as they relate to us
    knowing that "us"
in the context of my heart
    does not exist
    could never exist
    not until the taboos
painted on the insides of your eyelids
    have been removed
    completely erased from all memory
I can see subliminal murals holding you back
    even with your eyes closed
I have seen them so many times
    I recognize the signs
    But it's not your fault
I can only blame those who helped perpetuate
    illusions of stereotypical character flaws
    including myself
    the minstrel-faced anomaly
that taught you to dis-trust me
    dis-approve of me
    dis-love me
But that wasn't part of the plan
neither was the pain you suffered
    because of blind ambition
    I thought you knew that
    because you knew me
    in a past life
    before the alter-universe collapsed
    and switched polarities
    reversing every dimension
in our own, private little world
    Trace back to the time
    when the barriers didn't exist
    See me then
    and recognize me now
A lifetime away from the innocence we shared
Decades removed from the hurt we've encountered
    Or does it still remain?
    Is it still there
    lurking behind effervescent smiles
    and rainbow-colored emotions
    fooling even yourself?
    I too was fooled
    until the blood of apologies
sacrificed on the alter of forgiveness
    dried up
and was blown into the wind
    leaving but a scarlet stain
    a reminder
that the sins I was seeking absolution from
    weren't my own
One day this will all make sense to you
    One day you will see
    my love is for real
    - DAVE SHOES (a/k/a David Thomas)
    Chapter: ONE
INTRODUCTION TO THE NEW JIM CROW

    This is a True Story
To draw the picture of a day in the life of a LIFER would entail many layers of events from the entrance in the prison system until his death or miraculous release. I remember hearing a prisoner remark: “The judge gave me a sentence of 25-years-to-life. He did not give me a life sentence but a death sentence”. Most people will die in a 25 year journey in prison, through stabbings, or killing another person, police brutality, sickness or mental breakdown. Again, every Lifer is not the same; however, I made great use of the prison time forced in my life by “living” in the law library, general library and gym. Living under these conditions since I was eighteen years old, I was required to figure out this United States American Judicial System. I was required to study: history, jurisprudence, government, religion, psychology, spirituality, meditation, and prayer in order to survive the nightmare. In the process of this studying, I learned many things which I hope to share in the telling of my story.
In describing and explaining, the day in the day of a LIFER, I hope a glimpse of the realities and the conditions and the obstacles that exists within this New Jim Crow system is observable. Of course, everyone has their own story; however, I share from my personal experiences, which cannot take from another’s experience. My greatest prayer is that the children of young black mothers, especially boys, are guarded from this modern day slavery that “secretly” exists right in front of our eyes. In addition, I pray that we may find strategies to combat this “Unending Devouring Machine” as our fore-parents did under supreme brutal slavery, Black Codes and Jim Crow.
